They Want to Drug Your Child!

Anyone who has an interest in what is going on in the world of children’s health has noticed the explosion of medications and diagnosis of children with ADD, ADHD, Asperger syndrome or Autism.  Does is strike you as strange that all of a sudden a huge percentage of otherwise normal and healthy children are being diagnosed with these dire diseases and schools and their associated medical counterparts are prescribing all manner of strange sounding drugs to “fix” these problems?

When we were growing up, just because a kid didn’t sit still in class, the teacher didn’t scream that the child had some disease and demand that he be drugged.  But that is exactly what is happening to thousands of children in public schools all over this country.  And at some point, it’s up to parents to stand up and say, “STOP.  You are not going to keep pumping drugs into our kids just because you can’t control your classrooms.”

If you were to make that kind of statement to a school on behalf of your own child, you would face tremendous amount of pressure to have your child tested medically for one of these “behavioral diseases” so the medical community can cooperate with the schools and prescribe Ritalin, Concerta, Paxel or one of the other common behavior control drugs.  Schools have a fair amount of leverage over us when it comes to forcing us to drug up our kids.  Because these diagnoses are supposedly backed up by medical experts, the schools can maintain that you must comply and get your child on medication or be guilty of child neglect or abuse.   Read the rest of this entry »

Dieting and Weight Loss Drugs

There are many pills, potions, lotions, powders, and creams that promise to melt off the pounds you’ve put on while you sleep. The sad truth is that only one pill sold over the counter at this point in time has the FDA back up its claims of aiding in weight loss period. This drug would be the over the counter form of the drug that has been prescribed as Xenical. In the over the counter form it is known as Alli. Alli along with diet and exercise is known to boost the weight loss process to provide more immediate and long lasting results.

With any medication such as this there are those that will tout its effectiveness as well as those that will shout out the dangers of this chemical we are potentially introducing to our bodies. The one thing that is important to remember is that Alli holds no claims to work without consistent weight loss and fitness efforts on your part. This product is meant to supplement your own efforts not to work as a substitute for your own efforts.

It should be mentioned that there are consequences that occur as the result of taking Alli and not following up with a diet that is low in fat. Among the side effects that can result are flatulence, loose stools, and bowel incontinence. This is not a drug for the faint of heart nor is it a medication for those that are not completely dedicated to the cause of loosing weight and dieting. Read the rest of this entry »

Semi Trucks and Drug Trafficking

Drug dealers and smugglers use all forms of transportation in order go keep up with the supple and demand of this underground industry. Since semi trucks move all over the country, it is only practical to assume they are used for this purpose as well. Under the pretense of delivering actual goods, many trucks travel along the highways with drugs in the trailers. In these types of instances, the truck drivers are aware of what they are hauling. They often due it for the amount of money they can earn hauling it.

In other instances, the truck driver and the trucking company aren’t aware of the drugs on their vehicles. The drugs are placed behind the wheels of the vehicle or even in some of the merchandise in the trailer. The drug smuggling is a process that is done behind the scenes among individuals at various cargo pick up and delivery points.

The FDA is always on the look out for suspicious activities that take place with semi trucks. They pay close attention to the trucks that are coming in and out of docks. Suspicious activity that is reported is quickly investigated. They have the right to use drug dogs in order to check the inside of the cab if they suspect drugs are on board. They also have special gauges and tools they can use to check for drugs stored in gas tanks or under the vehicle. Read the rest of this entry »

Are Drugs Prevalent in Jamaica?

Jamaica is a laid-back country.  It’s a country of “chilling”.  One of the reasons for this could be that it’s hard to avoid the abundance of marijuana – locally known as “Ganja”.  Despite drugs being illegal in Jamaica, ganja and cocaine are relatively easy to obtain, and you may even find yourself being approached by street or beach hustlers who are hoping you could use a quick fix of one or the other!

There are two warnings for tourists when it comes to drugs.  First of all, don’t buy them and don’t take them from anyone offering you a free smoke.  Just avoid them completely!  Tourist status, American passport and all, is not going to save you from an obligatory sightseeing tour of the inside of a probably overcrowded Jamaican cell!  Even if they clear you of everything except using, you will still have had an experience you’d rather not remember.  If they are able to charge you with anything more than using – then you could be facing gaol time in the local penitentiary.  The Jamaican culture is known for its connection with drugs, but it’s not so well known for the tough penalties it gives out for those who are caught, so just avoid finding out the hard way and stay well clear of any drugs.

The second warning is in respect of your belongings.  We are becoming a society where we are wary of leaving our luggage lying around anywhere, or of carrying a bag for someone else because of the risk of a terrorism attack.  Use this to back up your resolve not to carry a doll or even a baby across the airport boundaries from one country’s laws to another!  If you’re holding it, when the officials check it and find illegal drugs, you’re the owner – so don’t put yourself in that position.  Make sure you don’t take care of anything belonging to someone else, and that your own luggage is never left unattended and open for someone to put something into it.
